About our Student-Led Social Justice Projects
Welcome to the Resources page at the Decolonial Perspectives & Practices Hub. We are committed to challenging oppressive systems and advancing decolonial principles through projects grounded in the diverse experiences of our community members. These initiatives become educational tools that invite learning, reflection, and connection. By sharing our resources openly, we hope to support ongoing conversations and contribute to cultural understanding and solidarity across academic and community spaces.
We Made a Short Film Celebrating the Voices of WIBCA’s Founding Elders
The West Island Black Community Association (WIBCA) was founded as one of Montreal’s first Black Anglophone associations. The film is guided by the oral histories of WIBCA’s founding elders, who recount their grassroots efforts to support Black communities in Montreal for over forty years.
We’re developing a course guide to help integrate this vital piece of Montreal history and Black resilience into your curriculum!
Syllabus Deconstruction
Our Syllabus Deconstruction speaker series provides a space for university community members to gather, unlearn, and reconstruct syllabi by recognizing and addressing oppressive narratives. These events encourage dialogue among faculty, students, and administrators to challenge existing structures and promote anti-oppressive academic environments. Subscribe for updates on upcoming events.
